Government Minimata Girls College, Korba, was established in September 1989, has completed THIRTY years of its existence. The development of the institution has been outstanding. It is the only girls’ college of government sector in Korba District. The College had been affiliated to Gurughasidas University upto 2012 and at present it is affiliated to Bilaspur University, Bilaspur . It is a Government as well as UGC funded college. The College is recognized by UCG under section 2f and 12b and receives UCG grant regularly. The college has accrediated Grade ‘B’, 2.21 point in seven point grade by NAAC valid upto January 22, 2022. The institution started its journey with thirteen students and reached the strength of 1254 in the current year.
Government Minimata Girls College, Korba, is located in the heart of city 2 Km. from the district headquarters. It is linked to all parts of the country and is well connected with Champa by NH 149B, and Ambikapur and Bilaspur by NH 130. Korba railway station is connected to Champa, the nearest railway junction on the Howrah-Nagpur-Mumbai line. The station comes under South East Central Railway Zone. It is directly connected to Bilaspur which the Divisional Headquarter by rail.
In the college most of the faculties have Ph.D and other advance qualifications. Students get all possible information regarding admission procedure with complete transparency. We provide flexibility in the choice of the subjects at the Undergraduates level, as per the instructions of the university. Regular monitoring and continuous evaluation of student’s progress are done through internal assessment throughout the year. Result is consistently very good. Remedial coaching for the slow learners and assistance to the advanced learners are provided. Regular seminars are held in all departments. There is a well equipped library with books and internet facility, a well-furnished science laboratory with computer facilities are some of the special features of our college . Extension activities like NSS and Youth Red Cross Society provide opportunity to the students for social service. Most talented academicians are visiting the college for regular guidance to students through seminars and conferences. A very jovial teacher-student relationship is a chief potency of this college.
